I’m trying to determine what storm door to order to fit in this space. brick mold is narrow (1/2 in or so) and sits deep in the opening. The rough opening is 36x80 but all the doors I have looked at require a much wider face on the brick mold than I h

If 36" door, you probably want to use 36" storm door. Storm door does not need the latch side frame, just the hinge side. Maybe that's how with ball latch to keep it closed. Will need some searching for unobtrusive latching system.
The door handle is right side, opens inward. Will need a storm door that opens with the handle on the same side.

Look into an expander door instead of a Z-bar door.

I would suggest the opening be retrimmed so that a standard 36" storm door will work. The door will need to sit back closer to the door sill so that the sweep can sit above the concrete sill. A good carpenter would have no problem doing this in a day.
