Home is new construction with a gas and 240 connection for a cooktop. We removed the gas cooktop and dropped in an electric one, som far so good.
Below the cooktop are two drawers, so the builder installed the 240 wiring into a flush mount plastic 2 gang electrical box. The cooktop has a metal conduit around the three wires (red, black, and green). The instructions show the connection of the cooktop into the side of the box the 240 is in, but since the box is flush mount. I can't do that.
The box had a two gang plastic plate on it.
I'm trying to figure out the best way to install this. The drawers limit the space between the flush mount electrical box and the back of the drawer. I can get a 1" 90 degree connector in there, but then need a plate that will accept it and screw into the 2 gang box. Home Depot has a metal plate. But only two of the screws will work due to the way the screw holes are on the plate (shifts the cover over a little)
Any recommendations? I've never seen this type of thing before.
Thanks.
