My wife and I cannot seem to keep house plants alive. We live in Jacksonville, Florida and the only ones we've been able to take care of without dying are bamboo. I take that back we've purchased several Queen Palm trees and a Pigmy Palm tree 3 years ago that are looking great.

Can someone recommend some house plants (either indoor or outdoor) that we can try? I would say we need more indoor plants for now.

For your locale how about Gardenia or Hibiscus. I can't kill Hibiscus OUTDOORS. Not watering them and Japanese Beatles (they do slow them done a little) and freezing (-20F) temperatures. They do even better done by you.
