We just had a bathroom demolished and redone. Problem is the tile company delivered tiles from at least two different lots and nobody noticed until after the job was done. We still have a few tiles in each lot left over. Is it possible to remove a few individual tiles and replace them to get a more color-coordinated look between the lots? Or does removing ceramic tile from backer board not work, presumably because of the adhesive residue making installation of the new tile ineffective?

Should be able to get it out.
Got a right angle grinder with a diamond blade?
Remove the grout, and cut or break the tile in an X pattern.
