In wall timer to control low voltage interior lights?

I am looking for an in wall timer that I can use to control 120v that feeds a transformer that controls low voltage halogen lights. I have tried an in wall Tim before but it did not work and I suspect that it was due to the fact that it is feeding a transformer...

What switch do I need to buy to get this to work properly?

Thanks

Look for a timer that has a three-wire connection (power in, power out, and neutral), or that is rated for use with compact fluorescent lamps. That should work. The reason yours did not work is that the timer relies on leakage through the load when it's turned off in order to operate its circuitry. The lighting transformer (which I'm assuming is electronic) is not leaking current the way the timer needs it to.
