I currently live in a fairly new apartment complex. The windows however do not have any window screens. After spending hours on google, from what I can tell I have a European style, in-swing, non-crank casement window which is composed of either UPVC or Vinyl. I made this determination by looking at various pictures and catalogs online. I have tried to have window screens professionally installed but every contractor I have contacted won't be bothered with something this small. Therefore I'm trying to find a DIY solution if possible. I am no stranger to power tools and basic construction. But these windows are nothing I have ever seen before. I have attempted to cut a standard window screen frame with splined screen. I discovered that when I close the window, there appears to be some gasket or weather stripping which surrounds the window. So when you close the window, it creates a weather tight seal leaving no room to place a screen within the interior wall of the frame. I'm sure that a screen cut to size by itself should be able to fit between the seal and the frame but I have no idea as to how to secure or fasten it in place. I have tried looking for the manufacturer of the window but with no luck. The only thing I know about the window is that the latches are made by Siegenia Aubi. If anyone has had the same problem as me or experiences something similiar, I welcome any assistance.
