I looked at the NEC 2014 draft, section 200.6 and it says that grounded conductors should have either a gray or white finish. Yet all over the Internet it says ground wires are green, plus ground screws for appliances are green.
This is one of the reasons why lay people should not simply pick up the NEC and start reading. You need some primer to get a feel for it first.
Some serious mistakes can be make otherwise.
Most of the NEC is understandable, and I have some clue about electricity, so I'm not entirely lost reading the NEC. Gotta start somewhere, and the Sunset diy electrical book doesn't seem to be it.
*Cough* Mike Holt website. I have found the Black & Decker Complete home wiring guide to be the best. Also if you can still find it out on the web, the U.S. Army basic electrical manual is good.
I may have it in my box.com account, or on my pocket drive.
