Hi there, I've had great success with IGR (Nyguard) and ticks in my several acres of woods.
Now I'm targeting mosquitoes. I usually use Talstar (Bifenthrin). I spray brush and the under side of leaves, brush and trees... Also spray the regular areas, decks, etc.
Also I already do the normal stuff like no sitting water, no damp piles of debris, etc.
I want to take mosquito control to the next level.
I've read that IGR might help control mosquitoes.
Should I add IGR (usually Nyguard) to my Talstar spray that I spray on brush and underside of leaves, decks, etc?
At first it makes sense to me, because IGR will break up their reproductive cycle.
But then I realize that mosquitoes lay eggs in standing water (which I have 99% eliminated from my yard.)
So if I spray IGR on underside of leaves and brush, will I be wasting it, or will it have some effect on the mosquito population, even though they lay eggs in standing water?
Will the IGR get 'picked up' by the adult females and eventually make its way into the mosquito 'ecosystem' and start breaking up their life cycle better than an adulticide alone can do?
Thank you for your help!
