Is it ok for IC rated lights like this to be installed in contact with paper faced insulation?

That is a bit misleading as the trim kit you have posted will never be in contact with the insulation anyways.

Well, that might be different.

I found this on a quick search:

....but didn't research the white paper.

If nothing else, I would get clarification from the manufacturer.

I always remove the paper from the insulation? The IC rating is in regards to heat build-up on the fixture. Paper cam stillignite easily with the heat created.

Those fixtures do not have an UL listing, They do have an ETL listing but FAIL to say which one.

They can't have them causing fires (it's bad press) but they can have a short lifetime if they run too hot.
