I doubled I joist over a parallel foundation wall. The only point of load is a 4x4 that will be a mid span open ceiling gable beam. Does this blocking look ok? I've blocked 2x4 on inside of each i joist to carry through 4x4 load above subfloor.

One thought is that each joist sits about half way on the parallel foundation wall sill. The header is in the pic keeps them from being any closer and also all the darn foundation bolts at 48" oc.

if you have a couple chunks of lvl kicking around replace those two blocks with lvl make sure the grain of the lvl is going vertical. Make sure you nail them together before you put them in. This will make it so you have a larger area filled in so that when you get the floor covered up and you put in your post you dont have to worry so much about missing that exact point.

Cut off the bolts that are in the way with a angle grinder and retro in a new one in at 6" to the left or right.

Now to the letting you have it part.

I do not mind helping people with the odd question here and there but i am not here to teach framing apprenticeship. Go ask a framer for a job and put in your ten years learning the trade if you want to build houses.
You have no business building a house with the kind of questions you are asking. You are putting people lives at risk for many years to come.
every question that you have asked is written on a standard framing set of plans or in the code book maybe you need to spend some time reading them with your journeyman.

You asked :devil3:

Mingledtrash....thanks for info! Regarding the "letting me have it"....if this was anything but a DIY sit I'd agree, BUT every category within this forum has potential for everthing to go right or wrong. I'm building 640sq ft granny unit.

I will always ask questions, simple or hard. I'm never afraid to learn, ask and even make mistakes. I do appreciate you sharing your knowledge regardless.

No lives are at risk as this is a fully permitted, well planned project that I am seeking DIY assistance on the DIY chatroom :) I am dead set on a solid project and am applying lots of effort to do so.

Even the cost of mistakes is still MUCH cheaper that paying someone in my area. I could build two times over myself vs paying someone and still make out with savings......

Hit my work hard, not me! :)
