Hi Everyone,
The picture I'm including is a little biased since we're in a monsoon here in Minnesota, but I wanted to get other people's opinion on the 'low areas' that we have in our lawn.

We built a new home in August and then in September we had a hydroseeding company come out and add top soil and till it in and then hydroseed. The low areas in the picture were there in the fall and now we seem to have a lot of water standing. We noticed the same thing last fall when we watered and should have had them come back out.

I've contacted them and they said they would charge for adding dirt to the low levels, but I'm wondering if the soil below wasn't tilled up enough and is now very compacted. Has anyone else experienced this? Are we going to have standing water overtime it rains??

P.S. They are doing street work so that is the reason for the large equipment nearing our yard.

Looks to me you have a drainage issue beyond fill dirt as a solution. Have you had a civil engineer, or landscape or grading contractor look at it? Is the water coming off the roof/downspouts or is that just monsoon season rain?

We haven't had anyone look at it yet. I've emailed the guy who hydroseeded it last fall but I'm thinking he won't really do anything about the low spots. I'm wondering if the dirt below the top soil he put on was too compacted after all the constructions.

No, it's just monsoon-ish right now. It has been raining nonstop since midnight last night.

I'm just wondering how we will deal with drainage. I'm fearing that we'll have to dig up areas or put in some kind of tiling which would mean digging up the money we spent to hydroseed and that would not make me very happy :furious:
