How does a person get the size for window jams? The site Im on has two sizes,4 9/16 and 6 9/16. are these the only two sizes ever available? My house has the really old double hung from the 50s or 60s.( My house is 2x4) Thanks

those sizes are for 2x4 or 2x6 with 1/2 sheathing and1/2 drywall

your probably dealing with 3/4 or thicker sheathing and maybe veneer plaster? no biggy just apply what you need to get the jambs flush to or a tiny bit proud to the inside wall

you can measure this and order extension jams to be sure it fits exactly

 

[II Weeks]

if you have an exterior door near by you can measure that jamb and that will tell you how thick your walls are.
