I need to install 10 Masonite interior door slabs. What is the best way to mortise the hinges. I've read about trouble with using the hinge templates for a router, but am afraid to try my hand at chiseling them out. The hinges have a 5/8 inch radius on them which makes the process a little harder. What does the average carpenter use on a daily basis ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We mostly use a router and templates. Once in a while when I'm too lazy to set the template up, I'll use a hammer-tapped butt marking gauge along with a utility knife, then chisel it the rest of the way.

Why don't you do yourself a favor and just get square hinges.
There is no, "trouble" with a router if you know what you're doing.
If you don't want to use a router or a chisel, hire someone who can use a tool.

I agree with Ron. Hint: one edge of each door is beveled slightly, to close on the latch side without binding. Be safe, G
