Hello

I recently had to replace an air conditioning / PTAC unit. This was previously hard wired in, with the cables coming out immediately beneath the unit, meaning there was no visible wiring

The electrical code no longer permits this, and so the electrician had to install a new outlet, with the PTAC unit now having a cable running to it on the outside of the wall.

Does anyone have any suggestions about how to make this look more attractive? The drywall that the outlet is attached to forms a window box about 1/5' high and 1' deep, which is entirely hollow. Is it possible in some way to relocate the outlet inside this space, with some sort of an access flap?
