I finished off my basement and made a mistake with height of the sofet in relation to the door. Wondering how to apply the trim to make this look "not as ugly" as it currently does.

Is there room to raise the height of the bottom of the soffit about 4"

Take out that door, reframe the opening 4" over from that soffit. It is like the Chicken & the Egg. A whole lot easier to pull the door and move it over, then trying to reframe that soffit.

How tall is the door? Could you lower the door a couple inches? That or raise the soffit.. I have a couple doors in my basement that are lower.. Never thought anything of it until I was measuring for new doors...
