Hi, I have a new a concrete patio (and step) that is about 10 weeks old. My problem is the step from the slider down to the patio doesn't "feel"like a comfortable size. It is cutrently 16" from the foundation to outer edge of step which I am sure is to Code, but it feels stubby and would be better if it was 2" - 4" deeper. I would like any ideas that any of you may have on how to achieve this without looking completely hokey, thank you. Attached a photo

No your picture isn't coming up. I think you mean you want to extend the top step towards more like a landing which is actually what is required by code now. Post a picture and will give you some ideas. I think your picture problem may be that you have to have at least three posts before you can attach one.

Yes, extend into a landing and not just a 16" step. The step is 16" from the foundation out into the patio.. I would rather have 18-20". It looks like a pic isnt possible at this point as I am new to this forum. The concrete is a grey aggregate finish.

You're never going to get an extension of that step to match or look good. Your best bet would be to take out the entire step in forming new one so it matches.
