I disconnected the downspouts from the sewer & they now empty into rain barrels. But 1) I need to move the barrels and 2) I have too much runoff. So my question is, is there such a thing as a pitched downspout? To take the water along the side of the house where the gable is, i.e. where there's no eavestrough? Can I just attach downspouts more or less vertically to the side of the house to transport the water from the existing downspout and into a rain barrel at the other side of the house? What kind of issues will I have with sludge accumulating? Should I pitch like an eavestrough (1/4" per foot or so) or can I have more of a slope - say, 2 or 3 inches per foot?

Any help most appreciated!
