Hello,
I recently found out that parts of my roof aren't flashed correctly and I would like to address this issue now.

The main culprit is where the roof butts up to an exterior wall.
I know I have to add step flashing but what is the best way to do this now.

The roof is newer and the wall has wood clapboard with vinyl siding over it. Do I need to get the flashing undr the wood clapboard? Does it need to be attached?

Any advice or tips would be great.

Was the new roof put over and older one or was the roof stripped down to the sheathing?
If it went over the old roof, the original flashing is probably still there.
Is there an issue with leaks in the area?
What's under the current vinyl? did they put foam insulation?
