It's possible it's that just the knob, or it could be broken inside. Start by pulling the knob off and seeing if the sleeve around the shaft is broken and whether the shaft will turn with pliers.



If the control to be needs replaced, my recommendation is to try find a pull-it-yourself salvage yard and go pull one out of a junked vehicle with the same control. After you destroy all the stuff around it getting it out, then you'll know how to replace it in yours without damage. At least, that's how it usually works for me.

that connects to the mixing door motor (perhaps has other ties). point here is if you don't hear the mixing door moving - then either the mixing door is stuck (common, broken little plastic actuator), actuator (motor) won't move, or it's unplugged
