Usually it is shimmed on the low side and in contact with the floor on the high side. Why did you have to shim it up all the way around? If the gap is 1/2” to 3/4”, why not lower it 1/2” so the gap is from 1/4” to nothing?

There are only shims on the low side. Actually, only 1 that currently even does anything.

Why? I don't know. But I need to get this ready now, so I'm just going to caulk it. And if I try to move anything, it may mess up the wax ring.

I'd probably get some plastic or rubber hose that would fit snugly in there and call it a day. It's hard to caulk that big of a crack without making a mess of it.

If it needs some sticky you can brush some Elmers clear drying on it after you get it dressed into place. You could even paint it if honey doesn't like the color.

There is also closed cell foam cord available and some of it has adhesive on it. That would be a little harder to work with though and harder to find locally.

There are foam backer rods at Home Depot.

That looks fine. Better than the tops of your base tile! :vs_laugh:

OOOH ME.. That was a low blow! :vs_OMG:

Some people (me especially) should never pick up a caulking gun except to hand it to someone who know how to do it properly. :wink2:

Glad that you put it behind you, so to speak.
