So a couple of the joints I just finished soldering on my 1/2 inch copper look terrible, but they haven't leaked yet after about an hour. Am I safe or can this joint fail at any time, or more precisely, after I go to sleep?
What he said. If it does not leak when you turn on the water, it should never leak. There is something called a cold solder joint, that could come apart in the future. The are usually easy to spot, but difficult for me to explain. If the solder flowed into the joint, you should be safe.
Sorry for the late response. What happened is I didn't plan out ahead very well, and ended up having to solder a joint that was nearly impossible for me to get to. I had to crane my neck, aim the torch near my face and plastic and a wall, and try to hold the solder at the same time, lol. I'm most proud of the fact that I didn't burn my face off or burn the house down. Everything else was just cake.
