How much room should I provide above my hot water heater? Would one foot be enough space for installation and maintenance?
The unit is connected to my geothermal AC system, so no venting duct is required (similar to a solar hot water heater).
The reason that I am asking is that I am building a shelf for my well water pressure tank and it will sit above the hot water heater. Yes, the shelf will be quite robust and rated for 1500 pounds. There is also a 14 foot ceiling to cram everything under, but not very much space laterally.
