I am planning on painting a small powder room, that is approx. 7 feet by 4 feet.

There is a window and a door and a strip of vertical tiling approx. 2 feet by 9 feet. (9foot ceilings)

The reason I am asking is if I can get away with purchasing one of those small little containers of paint.

Thanks ya'll

The temptation to buy a quart is strong, but everybody's right. Considering a quart covers 100 sq ft, or less, minus what gets absorbed into the roller that you don't get back, a quart doesn't cut it. You'll use even more if your first coat goes over a flat.
BTW, when you say a dark color, how dark, and what brand are you buying? Some dark colors require more than two coats.

I still argue with myself over quart versus gallon, in spite of all the hard lessons I learned early on. Not so much for the cost, but because of the leftover going to waste. My mother was born at the end of the Depression, and my grandmother was seriously influenced by it. So I grew up in a Depression Baby household, and it's still with me. I still add a little water to get the last of the ketchup out of the bottle, and I don't throw soap ends away either.

I'm starting to sound like Sdsester. BTW, has he been seen lately?

Over the years I have tried the "buy the quart, not the gallon" route to painting a small area.........about 99.9% of the time, I ran out of paint and had to buy another quart. As most painters know, a quart can cost about as much as a gallon so you end up spending MORE than you would have if you just buy the gallon.........not to mention that the new quart doesn't quite match the first quart in color.......anyway, you get the picture, buy the gallon and you buy piece of mind.

I agree if it takes 2 quarts price wise you might as well go the gallon same as if it takes over 2 gal. you might as well get a 5er.
Chris do you remember what thread it was he got mad over.
