How much do new dormers cost?

Looking for cost estimates: I'm adding a third floor master suite and want to build 3 dormers to open up the attic. One is gabled (8 ft x 15 ft), one is a shed (4 ft x 10 ft) and one is doghouse (6 ft x 6 ft).

thanks!

Dormers can cost a lot more than you think. Extra engineering for loads, extra framing, drywall, window, siding, roofing, etc. Hard for anyone here to give you any idea really.

To get any accurate estimates, you would need a set of plans to show local contracors who did an onsite inspection.

Thanks Ron. I did do that and I have the designs. i just wanted to know within the forum if the estimates are out of whack.
thanks Six. all in for a 1450 sq ft house what you would think it would cost? any thoughts? not trying to put you on the spot but just looking for ball park
Have no idea where you are, what building codes are like, how much inspections would cost and no drawings? Too many variables to bid from afar. Guessing would not be fair to you or other reading this thread.
Just a thought: Ask around in your area as to how often people with dormers have to have repair work done on them such as window sills rotting out, and the transitions from the roof lines leaking causing more damage. Maybe it's just my area but I get over a dozen calls a year from homeowners wanting repairs to dormers or to front porches with water damage caused by improper roof flashing/roof transitions. Something about dormers and South Ga. weather just doesn't work.

No one here has seen the plans.
No one here has visited the site.
I get requests like this when I see a customer about a job.
Customer- How much will this kitchen cost?
Me- Have you picked out cabinets?
Customer-No
Me-Have you decided on appliances, flooring, lighting?
Customer-No, but I just want a ballpark figure.
Me- Are we combining the 2 rooms into one big space
Customer- I don't know yet.. Just a ballpark figure
And on and on and on, ad nauseum.
If you need confirmation, keep calling contractors until you're happy.

You will never get an answer. It's impossible. Besides what difference does it make anyway if someone here does give you a number. You have to go by the estimates you already have.
$1000 and two weeks. At least that's what I always tell my husband before I start a project
