How far can holes be apart in studs?

Not sure where to post this question.

I am installing a TV mount (50 lbs) and I have to move it up the wall 1.25" inches.

So the new holes (7/32") are 1.25" from the old holes. Is this ok or will it affect the integrity of the stud?

Not going to hurt anything, drill away.

As long as you drill into the stud, you will be fine. Don't veer to the right or to the left and make sure there's solid wood there.
