I have some Halogen lamps mounted under the cabinets in the kitchen, that you just touch the button and they come on in three (3) different stages. Until this morning, when I touched the button this morning one of the lamps blew and all of them went off, I thought this was odd. I unplugged the power source this morning. I got a new bulb, replaced it, and plugged the power cord back in. Now they are all on and the "touch button" does not work. Is there any way to test anything on this system? Thanks, David

I think they are wired wrong, probably in series. Needs to be wired in parallel.

Do you have a multimeter?

The electronic box that the touch button controls and which in turn sequences the lights to come on in order may have gotten fried.

If they were working fine til a bulb blew its doubtful that they are wired wrong I am going with Allan on this one

There might be a recall on the control unit. It seems to have failed, for no good reason, to a short circuit. You could do a Google search with your make and model and see if others are having this symptom.

How old is this setup?

Oh, now that I look at it....nevermind.

I'm going for a bad control box as well.

This set of lights are approximately four (4) years old. Yes, they worked fine until the one bulb blew out. I'm going with the "fried" control box also. There are six (6) lights total, three sets of two lights wired parallel. The three cords plug into the control box as does the "switch" button. This setup works like those table lamps you just touch to turn on or off, except it has/had three brightness settings. Now it just has one setting and I have to plug it in or remove the plug. I'm taking it all out today to look for a manufacturer. Probably Chang-Ching Wong, or something like it.:yes: Time for a new set I'm sure. Thanks for the help. David

The controller is probably fried. It happens to dimmers as well sometimes. When the bulb blew the filament shorted and overloaded the current through the controller.
