Around here roofers bend down standing seams and lay 2x4s over them and reroof that way. I do not want to take the metal off this roof because I'm 67 and I don't have the energy to do it. The corrugation is very small and the waves vary less than an inch. I don't use this garage for anything but storage and it's leaking a bit. I want to screw new metal right over it. Do I have to put the 2x4s down or can I just use longer screws?

How many layers of roofing do you have now?
I can not imagine putting new over that.

Couldn't you just patch the leak, make sure all the metal is secure and apply a coat kool seal [equivalent]

I've been trying to patch but I need to sister some rafters inside as well. because of the leaks, some of them have soft spots and the screws won't bite anything solid. What is KOOL SEAL? I wish I could just glue some rubber roofing over it and call it done.
