I'm attaching a diagram below not necessarily to scale, but showing the area I want to put a french drain for dispersing drainage from a sump I plan to put in the crawl space for a foundation drainage system for my spread footings. The front yard has an area probably around 15' x 15' shown, it slopes to the street and is free of underground utilities, but probably not free of roots from the tree shown. The driveway is going to be replaced, probably in the fall or next year with concrete, but within a week it will be torn out to replace a main sewer pipe under the driveway, and gravel driveway will temporarily be installed.

Should I keep the system a particular distance from its concrete borders, the driveway, sidewalk, walkway? Is 1 straight pipe of whatever length possibly enough, or should I do more than that?
