If we fill the tub with the tub spout. The hot water has a yellow color and some small pieces of metal flakes. Now at all my sinks the hot water is not discolored but there are metal flakes in the aerators.

I believe when I had a plumber change the tub handles and spout the tub looked to have a galvanized metal instead of copper, maybe this is rusted causing the yellow?

I have oil heat with direct hot water coils in the boiler. Before I start replacing stuff I would like some input of what you think it would be.

We have been filling the baby's tub with sink water unsure what is going on with the tub.

have the hot water coil cleaned, ultra sound....since there are no aerators in the tub spout its letting the brown stuff come through..it will clog up the sinks in due time..

but the tub water is the only water that is discolored. I called a few places plumbers said they dont clean them only replace.

A simple question if you run the tub for a bit does the color clear up. If so it is the galvanized pipe in the tub spout. I would suggest you replace with all brass nipples.
