Hello. I have my eye on HW's YTHX9421R5127WW kit, shown here from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OZXEEG4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Are any of you familiar with the gateway to help me understand what data is available from the web portal? I am hopeful I can view a realtime line graph showing these parameters: set temp, actual current temp as measured at the t-stat (and/or a remote indoor sensor), outdoor temp, supply & return temps.
If the portal does provide that data, is it real-time or is there a lag (of, say, an hour or so)?

For controlling heat sources, do you know if I can set parameters for engaging electric strips over running a heat pump, and can I base it on runtime, outdoor temp, and [of lesser importance] temp delta?

Thanks for any detail you can provide!

The IAQ gives you all of the data you require but it does not give it in graph form and does not give it in real time. It records a slice of time once per hour (although I believe you can change that time slice)

It gives the data in spreadsheet form per stage of heating:

The gateway does not provide readable data. It merely gives you wifi (and cell phone) control. You can set/change temperatures, humidity, fan control, and shedule changing:

Overall it's a pretty incredible system. I do have issues with the outdoor wireless humidity/temp sensor. I don't know If I just got a lemon but it does not appear to be wildly accurate... but that's pretty much the only complaint I have.

Thank you for your detail, Bob. Is the [faulty] outdoor temp sensor the only means by which you can elect to lock-out the HP and/or prevent strips from energizing when making that choice based on temperature readings? Is it at least possible to use my zip code to make temperature-based decisions?

There is a connection for a hard wired sensor... it doesn't do humidity though... just temperature. I have my own condenser lockout system independent of the thermostat so it's not a big issue for me but if I was depending on the iaq would would probably go hard wired sensor.... although the temperature part of the wireless sensor is not that inaccurate..... maybe 2 to 3 degrees. It's the humidity part of the sensor that is really out to lunch. The tv said 90%RH yesterday while the iaq was saying 49%. Just a slight difference

There is no option for the iaq to use internet based weather

Thanks for the additional detail, Bob. I ordered the IAQ kit and will experiment with it. I currently use Ecobee's original Smart thermostat and I may deeply miss its provision for showing [near] realtime web-based line graph data on the fly (runtime of HP and strips, set temp, actual temp). But that unit has long since been discontinued and their current offerings do not have provision for adding temp sensors in, say, ductwork. Given prior HVAC issues I've had I feel I cannot live without that and I'd prefer having an alternate plan, now, should the Ecobee fail at some point.

Can I make use of the supply and return sensors to not only report Delta T but also the supply temperature on the stat, app, and/or web portal?
Delta T shows up on the report but it is not meant to measure and state supply/return temperature on a regular basis. You will only see the supply/return temps when when setting up your baseline stage temperatures

The job of the sensors are to monitor Delta T and send out an alert when one or more of the furnace's stages are not outputting proper temps.

In short the primary goal of the system is to alert you when a furnace stage fails, not to regularly report status.
