I just got finished installing a Honeywell HE120 whole house humidifier and it doesn't seem to be working properly. When I test the system in manual mode, the drum on the humidifier turns as it should. However when I set it to the highest setting, the drum stops turning.

My suspicion is that the humidistat is not far enough into the return air duct. It is mounted to the face of the return air duct as would normally be the case but my return duct is made of that 1" thick stiff insulation ducting. Is this the culprit of the humidistat not actuating the drum or is there something else. Do I need to figure out a way to mount the humidistat deeper into the return? Any recommendations on how to do that?

I haven't been testing the system for very long, does it take long for the humidistat to calibrate??

Any help is greatly appreciated....
