the power coming into my house is a standard 240 volt, and i have a few items that run on that voltage. my question is, is it possible to configure somehow for a item that uses 480 volts ? Thanks.
If you have single phase power, and the device you want to power is 480 volt single phase, you need a step up transformer. If the device you want to power is three phase, you will need a single phase to three phase converter, plus a step up transformer.

Yeah, I live in Wisconsin. It's a air compressor, the compressor itself wouldn't cost me anything but sound like it may be more trouble than it's worth. I forgot about I think it is set up now for 3 phase, so to step up the volts and convert to 3 phase I think I may be better off passing on it. Thanks for the info
If you really like this compressor
For some reason other than its free !
Than you could replace the motor
With a single phase motor ?
How practicule this is ?
depends on its size !
