I am building a new home and the crew that put on the decking took a hammer and put 5 holes in the decking to pull their air hoses through the roof(unbelievable). the contractor did not catch it, I did, AFTER they had put on the felt and a GAF HD 30year shingle. The contractor filled the holes with construction adhesive and put a 2x6 between the rafters for support over the holes. Is this good enough or should I make him tear the sections off and do it right? Naturally worried about the shingles matching. they have been on about a month.

First of all, what stupid bastards these guys were. Second of all, the contractor didn't catch it, because he allows it all the time.
At the end of the day, if they had top patched the holes with a piece of 24 gage galvanized sheet metal set in roof cement, and fastened only across the top, you are OK up to about 8 inches. I don't get the 2 x 6 because you still have a void above it, the thickness of the sheathing.
Hoses through ridge opening makes very good sense from every standpoint.

I also agree with Tinner,,,But your telling me nobody cut the bottom out of a coffee can or covered the hole with a couple license plates ? They do that all the time here. :laughing:
