Trying to re-use old door that has 3-16-1-4” think old hinges I need to change swing and move hinges over on same side, the old ones won’t swing in that direction if I purchase new I can’t find ones that thick in gauge if I chisel over to other side could I just add shims or does someone know a better solution?

Cut up the old shoe box cardboard and make shims.
