Hi.

I was outside inspecting cleaning and winter proofing my central air unit and noticed the the exhaust vent to my forced air furnace broke. It snapped off right at the house. I want to reattach it, it is PVC, and the break was a clean break. Is there any type of epoxy/glue/tape that would work to reconnect it? Or do I need to replace the whole pipe from the inside out? I am worried that the intake pipe could be sucking in some of the exhaust and don't want it to affect anyone in my home, is there a severe danger with the intake sucking in exhaust, or is it still relatively safe?. Thanks for any help/guidance.

get the correct sized coupling, go inside, cut the vent that broke far enough back that you easily attach the coupling and repipe from there, you can you the old piping if it's still good.

it sounds not to serious you need to cut inside and install a coupling and re vent the fresh air as it was... make sure you know the type of pipe as to get the correct glue.... the exhaust will not enter your home it may or may not enter the furnace combustion chamber.... correct it as soon as possible.... you can also do it from the outside unless the pipe broke flush with the house... good luck... not hard to fix...pictures also help us help you ....:thumbsup:

The Home Depot or Lowes. You're probably going to need a coupling as well, you just need to know if it's 2" or 3" pvc pipe being used.

If it's one of the vents with concentric pipes for the intake and exhaust it's going to be very difficult to reattach and may require replacement of the assembly.

I'm going to get the PVC tomorrow and will be replacing the section damaged from the inside, I have the broken piece to bring to match the correct pipe size at the store. I'll take pictures tomorrow, is night and about 22 degrees out when i first posted. Thanks for the quick replies, you guys are great!
