The New Goodman 14 SEER condensers, do NOT come with a piston. Think about it if you are putting in 1/2 system, changing from R22 to R410A or may need a piston match.

Anything to shave a few cents off each unit.
YES. A few cents make big $$$$ - One million Penney's is $10,000.00--- I learned about the piston the hard way! Last summer I installed a new AH -14 SEER- 4.0/ the used condenser at the time was a 3.5 -13 SEER - The piston I used was .076-- yesterday went to install new 4.0 -14 SEER R410A condenser-- did not get a piston with the new condenser- did not have a piston chart with me. I was think 410A piston is smaller than R22-- I guessed at the size- SH & SC low= undercharged-- put some gas in & inside split TD went down. - That is when I realized problem was size of piston. Piston chart calls for .080 - My brain was thinking 13 SEER 3.5 condenser & R22 - and was working on 14 SEER 4.0-R410A-- Lesson learned - when installing 1/2 system buy the correct piston with the unit- don't assume you will get piston with condenser any more.:vs_mad:
Have well under 100 compressors fail in warranty because there's liquid flood back in certain conditions and the savings evaporate.

It's crazy to not include a piston - the coils are in nominal tonnage only for 13 seer; a lot of contractors won't buy the piston if a bigger coil is needed to get the efficiency.

It adds what, probably under $1 per unit - just increase the price by a buck for god's sake.
YES I agree!! Crazy not to supply a piston!!! The counter guy could have given some heads up??? Your doing job on weekend ,and or supply is 50 min drive. What are you going to do??? Thinking not including a piston is going to cost the mfg more warranty claims!:vs_mad::vs_no_no_no:
Yes it is cooling well. I know it can be better and more energy efficient will change the piston out this weekend thank you for the info
