Tried replacing my light switch fixture, however the new sitch wont turn on the hall light. Checked the breaker and the only thing i can think of (since its an older home) is the wiring may be backwards or mixed up. I installed the wires as they were on the older switch though?!?!?!
any adivce would be great!!

Does the fixture have multiple switches? If so, you need a 3-way or 4-way switch. Take the old one with you to the store.

shoot the old one is so hard to read (the plate is rusty) but i bet you thats what it is. The hall light is controlled by a switch up top and at the bottom of the stairs!! **slaps forehead***
