I had a company demo the interior of my home as part of a remodel and they removed a beam that was installed as part of a room addition some time ago. The beam sat where the exterior wall of the home used to be. For my own peace of mind, I want to get some type of temporary support in there while I sort out the issue with this company.

The beam spanned about 13' and the roof is immediately above this area, there is no second floor. I've looked into the 8 ft. 4 in. Jack Post Super "S" at my local HD store and thought I may be able to use 2-3 of them to rest under the remaining 2x4s that were above the beam. Ideally, I need an option that I can do by myself and thought this may be the best one. I don't have any experience building a temporary wall.

If I'm going in the wrong direction with my thought process and someone can offer a more realistic solution please do. The temporary supports may need to be in there 1-2 weeks.

Thanks in advance.

Do the joists above this section run parallel to the double top plates in the photo or are they perpendicular and rest on the double top plate?
If parallel, they carry no weight.

I believe they are perpendicular but will have to check to be sure. If they are in fact resting on the double top plate, do you think using the 8' jack posts would work as a temporary solution or should I be looking in another direction?

The jack posts should be fine. If you're putting back the header, I'd just do that now. Why go buy posts you can easily do without?
