Hello all. Have a couple questions about our furnace venting. Initially there was a tee in the furnace vent and the tank style hot water heater was vented thru it as well. Actually the tee is still there and that is the issue, or how to remove it.

The section with the tee looks to be just twisted together and there are some type of spring on the ends that protrude thru the slots on the piece joining it. How do these pieces come apart? Is there a tool to get all of the spring tyle clips compressed at one time? They seem really stuck together. Even pushing the clips in and trying to twist it does not move a bit. Can someone school me on this please?

If I do indeed get it apart can I just replace that piece and if so, is there a specific brand I should use? I see the DuraVent B-type is used a lot.

Here is an image that isn't the greatest quality but shouls illustrate what I have. That section is 6" diameter and 10" long.

Can you post a more zoomed out picture?

I don't see why the t has to be removed - is the venting against code? What problem are you trying to solve?

Have to use the brand that is currently there. B vent brands are not interchangeable.

If you don't need the tee for the water heater anymore. You can just plug the tee where the water heater was attached.

I was told by a plumber doing a gas pressure test you could not plug double wall vent.

I will try and get a brand name. The water heater, which is now tankless is on another wall.

The pipe below the tee is different and has screws holding it together.

U'll get some more pics, the area is tight and hard to get good images.
