Situation:

I just changed out the two lights over the kitchen.

Problem:

It had a dimmer and now its just on/off and no longer dims.

The left light was a single wire connection while the right light had two wires.
i made sure the reconnect everything like it originally was.

the only thing i noticed differently was that the old lights had a white wire, black wire and a green wire (which i assume is the ground)

the new lights had just a white and black wire coming from the bulb.

is this crappy electrical work or is the light not meant for dimming?

yes i am an absolute novice.

What type of lights were the old ones? What type are the new ones? CFL lamps are not normally dimmable. LEDS also are normally dimmable. The LED and CFL that are dimmable need special bulbs and dimmers.
