I have a Hampton Bay Model LE Ceiling fan. The wires coming from it are:GRN/YLW= Ground, WHT=Common, BLU=Lite & BLK=Fan.
I want to hook it up to a Hunter 27182 Dual switch. Wires from switch are BLU=Fan, RED=Lite, BLK=Hot.(incoming to Switch) & GRN=Ground
No White Common to speak of on the Switch. So plz tell me how you would go about hooking this up.:vs_mad:

thx
Don

You need a 3 wire cable from the switch box to the ceiling box, black, red, white and bare wires. The box must be rated for a ceiling fan.

At the switch the white neutral is not connected to the switch, you connect the supply white to the 3 wire white to the fan. Connect the supply black to the switch black, connect the switch blue to the 3 wire black, connect switch red to 3 wire red. Connect all grounds together and to the switch.

At the fan, connect 2 whites together, connect 3 wire black to fan black, connect 3 wire red to fan blue, connect all grounds together.

Do you have a 3 wire plus ground from the switch box to the ceiling?

You may be talking about a receiver for a remote. The receiver is simple on/off switch which lets the power through or not. As such, the switch handles the power only and no need for neutral. Fan itself, must come with neutral and a ground. Fan neutral is connected with neutral house wire. If you wanted a wall switch, the house wiring needs to be at least 3 wires and one ground (black/red/white and green or bare ground).
