How do I take apart the door on my Kenmore microwave/oven wall combo, model 790.48803100?
The right latch broke on the microwave door, and I ordered the part. The oven does not come on, nor does the light turn off. I've searched online for a manual or an instructional video but haven't found one; I only found the parts list which sort of gives me an idea.

thank you

Most microwave doors come apart pretty easy. You can use a screwdriver but I use something like a putty knife. Wider is better, less chance of damaging panel. There is a panel on the inside that just prys off. Then you can replace the latch and the panels pops right back in with no tools. Watch for any springs and see how they are installed before you remove the latch assembly. Its really an easy repair

Pictures speak a million words. But these microwave doors are typically all the same. The inner and outer door are held together with tabs. If you have something long and flat(like a putty knife like already suggested) you can pry in between the outer and inner door. The inner door skin should come off staring at the door latch. Sometimes there are screws that help hold it in OK the outside.

Hopefully that helps

This was incredibly easy to do. Wow. A plastic cover pried off with a bitter knife, and then 5 screws came off to reveal the latch. The replacement part from appliancepartsproscom was made of solid metal versus the cheap plastic one used by Kenmore.
