Evening all. I moved a light fixture a few feet, and ended up having to run some new wire through the attic. I diagrammed the switches, but not the fixture end. Thinking it was straight forward. Sure enough, I forget how it was.

Power comes in the at the light, and then is connected to two sets of outlets. That is easy & OK. Where I am stuck is how to wire the light and the 3-wire Romex that leads to the two switches. Diagram is attached.

There's a couple different ways to do it. Here's what I would do:

At the light box, the supply neutral goes to the neutral for the light.
The supply hot goes to the black wire in the switch cable. The red wire in the switch cable goes to the light's hot terminal. The white wire in the switch cable gets capped off, unused.

At the first switch (closest to the light), the red wire from the light goes to the switch's common terminal. The black wire from the light box gets spliced to the black wire to the other switch. The white wire from the light box is again capped off, unused. The red and white (taped black) wires from the other switch go to the two traveler terminals on the switch.

At the other switch, the black wire goes to the common terminal, and the red and white (taped black) wires go to the traveler terminals.

Also remember to ground the switches, the light if necessary, the boxes, if metal. Connect all ground wires to each other in each box.

Er, wait. If you already have the switches connected back the way they were originally, tell me how they are connected and I'll tell you how to make it work at the light box. Sorry, I missed that part in your post.

From the light, cap off the grey(white) that goes to the switch (not needed). Use the white under the wire nut for the white to the light.

Connect the black from the switch to the other blacks under the wire nut at the light box.

Connect the red to the light fixture - this will be the switch leg.

At the first 3 way switch after the light, connect the red wire from the light to the common screw on the switch.

Now use a wire nut to connect the two black wires. This connection will simply feed through the box and not connect to the first switch.

Next, connect the other red wire (the one going to the second 3 way switch) to the screw terminal above the common.

Now, connect the white wire( the one going to the second switch) to the remaining screw terminal on the switch.

At this point, you should have only one white wire left - the one that isn't needed. Cap it off and push it back in the box.

At the second switch, you will connect the black wire to the common terminal.

Connect the red wire to the terminal screw above the common.

Connect the white to the remaining screw terminal.

Done.

Relative to original drawing, the Kitchen switch is the first one in the line, the dimmer is the last one.
Kitchen light switch and outdoor light switch are in same box. Dimmer is across the room

I took a stab at diagramming both ends. I am not sure how to connect the 3-wire in the ceiling box to the source and lamp.

Using the picture in post #8 & you asked how to connect the 3-wire in the ceiling box to the source and the light fixture….

The white of the source gets tied to the white of the 2 receptacles like you have, and also to the white from the light and the white of the 3-wire going to the switches.

The red of the 3-wire gets tied to the black of the light fixture.

The black of the source gets tied to the 2 blacks of the receptacles like you have and to the black of the 3-wire to the switches.
