MY sis and I co-own a condo it has an old kitchen with 1950's metal cabinets which you cannot see any sides of cabs (galley Kitchen) except on one end and the doors are metal. They are starting to wear out the hinges. Doors loose etc...

she wants to gut the whole kitchen and spend $12,000 most of it would be my money! ! ! ! ! :furious:(don't ask)

Can you get new cab doors that would look right on metal cabs? Do they make metal doors anymore? OR could wood work? (seems not) can some other door type be used that could attach?

the only thing visible on these cabs is the little showing around and inbetween the doors I could paint that area probably make it look nice.

What I would imagine are metal doors that have glass, like a multi-pane type

anyone have an idea to help me save 12 grand? !!!!!

#2 transferring to Swiss account this morning !
sometimes you can cover the metal with a new wood face frame and then put on new doors. Sometimes.

interesting idea! I think the face frames are flat so yes with some glue a veneer may be able to cover, that'd be pretty slick. Have you seen anything in person or on line where this was done?

thanks for the idea:)
What I saw was like 1x2 oak frame, believe they screwed in on from the back through the metal and into the wood. Then new doors. You can order them made to your size.
Google cabinet facelift and refacing cabinets.
