The window sash balancer in one of my windows isn't working, and the problem is that there's a clip missing that screws into the sash and sticks out into the spring in the frame.

This is a picture of the clip that I do have, but I'm having trouble tracking one down, partially because I don't know what it's called. Anyone know the name of the part or where I might find a new one?

Thanks!

Will

It is hard to believe a piece like that could go missing, have you taken everything apart looking for it.

J is correct , it is a pivot bar . They are easily replacable .

HOWEVER..... are you sure it isn't still in the window sash ???
They are usually inserted into a channel in the bottom of the sash . This channel is (again usually) part of the extrusion that runs the entire length of the bottom piece . If the retaining screw fell out it may have worked itself away from position .

I'd lay a short board on the floor & gently bounce the sash (on the side ) on it to see if it pops out or at least becomes visible .
