I just bought my first home. I'm 25 years old and it's just me and my pets. My home is 5 years old and doesn't have any "needs" at the moment. But my list of "wants" is growing.

I'm sanding and resealing/painting all my wood trim this summer. And doing some minor landscaping! I want to learn and do as much as I can.

So far just browsing around the forum has been very informative!

Welcome! I lived in Northern California---Bay Area---from age ten for decades and sort of grew up and went to school there. What is now much of the wine country was orchards then that snowed apricot and prune blossoms in those days.

How far North and deep in the wine country are you?

I'm in Santa rosa, about an hour north of San Francisco. Both my parents work for a winery, viticulture has taken a back seat to home improvement ever since my house came into the equation.

Muchacho!

So what kind of casa you have? You said you don't think you need anything but let me tell you something about this part of the World, or at least the part I left promising never to go back.

Think lawn ornaments. Plastic, cement, animals that might once have been around but for $4 extra I can send you a concrete elephant. Anything you can imagine compadre can be yours within days thanks to FedEx?

Tacky greek statues? Italian or Spanish fountains. Just let me know.

Gatos, if any of your pets are of that variety love tacky lawn ornaments.

My wife & I were out in your neck of the woods, for a short vacation, in January. Enjoyed it very much!

Welcome to the forum. :)

Thanks all! This area is beautiful! Close to the city, the coast, the redwoods, snow, and smack dab in the middle of wine country!

Not so sure about lawn ornaments haha but I'll keep an open mind for the future!

I will be replacing one of the exterior doors/lock (garage to backyard door) first!
