I am at a loss - not even sure where to start

It appears one of the heating duct work runs has separated somewhere under the floor on the second story. Heat is reaching a few rooms - however not to two of the bedrooms. It is so cold in these rooms I want to close the doors. Anyone with any ideas would sure help me out.

Close the vents down in the warm rooms to force more air into the other rooms.

Maybe you have a damper in the system that worked it's way shut somehow. If it really disconnected then shutting registers in the working rooms will just force more heat into your ceiling cavity. Maybe you can rent a camera like what plumbers use to figure it out.

There are no dampers in this house. I think the camera idea is great. Even if I find where the issue is - is there anyone that can fix without having to rip up the floor.

Go through the ceiling below. Ceilings are usually easier to fix than floors.

The duct cleaning companies might have cameras.

Go to Amazon and search for 'USB endoscope', they are surprisingly cheap, like $15-25, and work with most any laptop. Most have built in lights, but in your case you can set a flashlight in there too.

Does your cell phone have a camera ? Is it capable of taking video ?

Upstream of the problem . Remove a grill / register . Turn the camera on , recording video & stick it in the duct and shoot a few minutes of video , slowly moving it around to catch the area you think has the problem .

Repeat down stream of the problem , pointing in the opposite direction .

Let us know what you find . Post the videos to some where like DropBox & post links .
