Hey everyone,

Newbie here....first-time posting.

I have an American Standard Freedom 80 Single-stage furnace and when I fired it up today it blew cold air out. I checked the diagnostic reading and it comes back with two blinks followed by a pause and two more blinks. "External Lockout... Retries or Recycles exceeded"...does this mean the gas isn't catching the ignitor?

OK...finally had some time to do more investigating.

First things first...the model # is AUD080C948K1...it is an American standard Freedom 80 single stage furnace.

I opened everything up and when I turn it on, the blower starts just fine, but then I hear the click for gas and the gas flows for a few seconds and then I hear a click and the gas shuts off.

Also should probably report that I don't see anything glowing like the ignitor on a clothes dryer. I see what I think is the ignitor...looks like a metal rod housed in a ceramic block. Appears to be buildup on the metal part, but not much.
