Aftermarket hard start kits are a last ditch effort to keep a compressor going and are hard on the windings/compressor. They have a relay in them and have been known to explode. I would get the genuine York capacitor and avoid any problems. It is sized properly for the Hp of the compressor.

Does a hard start cap have a pot relay inside it? How does it take itself out of the circuit after start?
The 5-2-1 hard start kit comes with a start cap and a potential relay. It's the same 3 wire style that the mfr's use when they include a hard start kit on new AC's and heat pumps. Yuri's correct that adding a hard start is a last ditch effort when there's already problems, some compressors only last a short while after installing one and others last for many years. No way to tell what yours will do.
