Ok...I have researched, read the manuals, studied the wire diagrams and am frustrated beyond belief. :furious: I have a Goodman heat pump that was not heating any more. Fan blew but did not heat. I bought a new Honeywell RTHL3550 thermostat to replace my old Janitrol HPT18-60. I connected the new thermostat but now the fan does not even cut on. I have checked and rechecked many times the thermostat settings and the wire connections. I've check the breakers, and even opened up the Goodman after reading about checking fuses. One major problem here is.....just where in the :censored: are these so called fuses? I have seen blown fuses mentioned several time in different forums and answer sessions. And other than the actual breakers, I couldn't find any fuses to check. I checked the wire panel carefully. My unit is an all in one. Just the unit, ductwork, intake air panel, and thermostat.

Wire color, old, new

Yellow-Y-Y
Green-G-G
Red-R-R(with jumper to Rc)
Orange-O-O
White-W2-AUX
Brown-E-E
Lite Blue-C-taped off and not used

Even tho there is a wire connected to both, should there be a jumper wire from E to AUX? I have double checked to make sure the G wire was seated securely since it is for the fan. I have checked the functions on the new thermostat and used every one there was even tho I feel it should be number 7 on the type.

I have a feeling it might just be a fuse if I could locate one. HELP!!:wallbash:

Put blue on don't used. That is common wire. If it is still hooked on inside the unit then when it hits other wire or metal it will short transformer or do hope fuse. The fuss should be a small 3 or 5 amp car fuss by transformer. But the transformer may have a reset button on it self

Thanks sooo much for the information. I headed to town to happily pick up the parts needed. Grrrr...parts places are closed for their New Years. I did get the in line fuse to add to the transformer.

Did it look like I had the thermostat wired correctly? I ask because on the wire panel on the unit....the brown E wire was connected to the W2 slot and it was wired to the thermostat in both the old and the new to E.

Function 1 = 5 Heat Pump: Outside compressor provides both heating and cooling with backup or auxiliary heating.

Function 2 = 0

I'd set function 6 to 3

8 = 3 as well
I'd set 12 to 1 and use autochangeover in spring and fall.

Wiring the new Transformer??

Help! My wires do not even come close to matching the new transformer!

I hope I attached 1 picture of the current installed transformer and 1 of the new one.

The old one has two black wires attached to the top but the new one as one blue and one yellow. The old one has two red, one blue, and one gray wire attached but the new has one white, one orange, one red, and one black.

The colored wires in the bottom of the pic are the different taps. connect the 240 black on your transformer to orange I think- hard to see from the pic (look for color to match 240V if that's what yours is. Common is white so other black to that white one. Top of pic looks like the 24v outputs.

White and orange are for 240 volt. The blue and yellow are your secondary/24 volt wires.

Cap off the red and black individually.

ok so I have this same unit we are installing however, the cooling runs constantly the fan will not shut off it will even run without the thermostat connected. Could this be the same problem and us just need a new transformer?
